At the Division of Manufacturing Engineering we conduct research and education in close cooperation with industry. We primarily cooperate with manufacturing and remanufacturing industries in the fields of automotive, aerospace, electronics, white goods, etc. Furthermore, we cooperate with companies that develop, integrate, and/or produce manufacturing systems, manufacturing equipment, and automation solutions across several activity domains.
At the division we have wide set of competences that include machining, smart manufacturing systems, flexible manufacturing equipment, and intelligent automation. Furthermore, it includes sustainable manufacturing, product design for the environment as well as product design for manufacturing and remanufacturing.
The Division of Manufacturing Engineering has a need to recruit a senior lecturer who will mainly work in the area Manufacturing Technologies and Processes
The duties assigned to teaching staff may comprise educational responsibilities or research, and administrative tasks. Teachers are also responsible for monitoring developments within their subject areas and developments in the wider community that are significant to their role as a teacher at a higher education institution. The holder of the appointment will participate in teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels. This position includes both education and research.
Documented scientific skills in manufacturing engineering and documented skills in basic manufacturing processes and technologies such as in the processing and molding of materials (mainly metals) are a requirement for the employment. Technical skill regarding the handling of various workshop machines, including their programming, is a requirement for the employment.
Documented scientific and technical skills regarding CAM and automation are merit for the employment. Documented scientific skills in areas such as links to digitization and smart production systems and / or to the intersection of production equipment, automation and production systems are further merits.
The courses at the division are mainly given for the master's programs: Mechanical Engineering, Design and Product Development and Industrial Engineering, and the International Master Program in Mechanical Engineering. Courses where the applicant will have a main responsibility focus on commonly used manufacturing processes and technologies. They include, for example, course elements within: Basic cutting machining, basic plastic machining, molding, welding, the possibilities and limitations of various production processes (regarding mainly manufactured geometry, tolerances, surface finish and material impact) basic dimensioning of machines intended to be used in production, basic production economy, can suggest production methods according to a drawing of a detail containing dimensions, tolerances and surface finish, project work containing both theoretical and practical elements.
There will be a great opportunity for the applicant to further develop the existing courses and put their own mark on them.
Documented pedagogical skills regarding commonly used manufacturing processes and technologies are a requirement for employment. Documented pedagogical skills from teaching via combination of different educational forms such as lectures, lessons, laboratory work and problem-solving projects are merit.
Documented skill regarding collaboration with and / or work in the industry is very meritorious for this employment. This skill can e.g. be acquired through employment or relevant research and development projects in the industry.
The teaching within the framework of the current employment may be given in Swedish or English.
To be qualified for this appointment the applicant must have demonstrated teaching proficiency, received a Degree of Doctor or have the equivalent academic expertise or other professional skill which is of significance with consideration for the subject relevant to the appointment and the associated duties.
