Om jobbet

The School of Medical Sciences at Örebro University is seeking an epidemiologist/biostatistician/researcher in life-course and register research into influences on disease risk and treatment outcomes .

Duties and responsibilities

Applications are invited from epidemiologists, biostatisticians or other suitably qualified individuals to participate in epidemiological research to examine life-course influences on various aspects of health, as well as disease and treatment outcomes, including surgical treatment. This will involve use of longitudinal material from Sweden and other countries around the world. The post holder will be involved in several aspects of the research process, including planning and scientific writing, and will be responsible for data analysis and data management in collaboration with researchers in Sweden and internationally. This may occasionally involve national and international travel. The post offers the opportunity for the successful applicant to develop their own research interests.

Candidates should have graduated in a discipline with training in quantitative methods, such as health, medical, psychological, statistical, behavioural or social sciences. Key aspects of the job include statistical analysis and data handling, using and advising on appropriate methods for analysis in observational and intervention studies. Knowledge of epidemiological research is highly desirable and experience in data handling and using statistical software such as Stata, SPSS or SAS is essential. Experience of research or research support, and a postgraduate qualification are desirable but more recently qualified applicants may be considered if they can demonstrate competence.

The position is for two years in the first instance. Positions announced at Örebro University are, where appropriate, subject to a trial period. The salary depends on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
