Doctoral student - Market development of multi story wooden construction
Comparing institutions and innovation networks in promoting wooden multistory construction in Finland and Sweden (Innovationer och aktörssamverkan för flervåningsbyggande i Sverige och Finland)

Circular bio-economy stands for an effective approach for the achievement of a sustainable development. It implies the sustainable use of resources to meet human needs, like food and housing. Wood-based materials can drive a sustainability transition because they are renewable, functional and climate neutral. This project aims to explore the role of business innovation and public private collaboration for a transition to sustainable wood based construction methods.

The Swedish University of Agricultural University and Helsinki University will perform a collaborative research project on institutional and market factors affecting the development of multi-story wood construction for residential use. The project explores how market development is influenced by new techniques and wooden products, and by collaboration and corporate models for multi-story wood construction. The empirical studies encompass both qualitative and quantitate approaches in comparative studies.

The part of the research project that concerns the doctoral student focuses on corporate roles in wood construction. The doctoral student combines both PhD-courses and practical research work, in addition to communication with various stakeholders.
