Position descriptionWe are looking for two new PhD students, one specializing in: 1) modelling and verification, and one in 2) virtualization techniques, both applied to industrial embedded systems. The students will be recruited under the ACICS (Assured Cloud Platforms for Industrial Cyber-physical Systems) project, a joint research project on cloud computing and IoT, between MDH, ABB, Ericsson, and Volvo, funded by KKS, the Swedish Knowledge Foundation. The candidate is expected to work closely with the MDH staff and other scientific partners, as well as the national industrial partners involved in the project.
The overall goal of ACICS is to provide models, methods and tools that facilitate a substantial increase of dependability of cloud-based platforms for industrial cyber-physical systems applications, with respect to consistency, security and interoperability of data, timing predictability of using shared virtual resources, together with a framework of guaranteeing quality-of-service enforcement by formal analysis and verification. To meet its goals, ACICS expects advancing the state-of-the-art in the following scientific areas: (1) Modeling of data, and dependencies between data and quality-of-service attributes, (2) Cloud resource virtualization, and (3) Automated formal analysis of quality-of-service of cloud-based platform and services.
QualificationsOnly those who are or have been admitted to third-cycle courses and study programmes at a higher education may be appointed to doctoral studentships. For futher information see Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 1993:100).
The applicant should have a master degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent. Experience in embedded systems design is a merit, as is knowledge of development methods and tools for model-based software engineering, and discrete mathematics. Decisive importance is attached to personal suitability, including a keen interest in direct cooperation with industrial partners.
